Artist's Bio My interest in photography started as a teenager growing up in Germany. After emigrating to the United States in 1986 to work and attend graduate school in the San Francisco Bay area, I began exploring photography more seriously inspired by the new cultural experiences, the fascinating beauty of nearby cities and their people, and the stunning natural landscape of the Western United States. More recently, after moving to the Central Valley of Northern California, I became fascinated with the patterns and graphic elements in the rural landscape and changes associated with each season as well as the beautiful dry and arid desert landscapes of the West. All my black and white and color images are captured digitally and processed using Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom (primarily to recover highlight/shadow details, sharpen and improve contrast). Photographs are printed on an Epson 3800 printer with Ultrachrome K3 archival pigment ink on archival paper. My images have been published by the Natural History magazine and online and printed publications of the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations. My Central Valley photographs have also been highlighted by an article in the San Francisco Chronicle (April 2007). I am a portfolio member of the Viewpoint Gallery in Sacramento and a member of the Center for Fine Art Photography in Colorado. I am also a new member of 'The Artery,' a local artist coopertive and gallery in downtown Davis, California, where my work is now available for sale located at 207 G Street (near 2nd Street and near Amtrak Station). |
